The blog “writings of A Blessed Man” is a teaching ministry to uphold what scripture tells us:

…to equip the saints for the work of ministry, that is, to build up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God – a mature person, attaining to the measure of Christ’s full stature.
Eph 4:12-13 (NET)

Christianity is not just something that we do on Sunday morning.  It is a live, active process that we all must mindfully walk through, think about and embrace.  We are to be equipped.  That doesn’t mean listening to your pastor or simply reading a blog such as this.  But you must actively embrace, understand and live what is being taught to you.

That is the purpose of this blog:  to get you to think and learn and act.  To get you to be built up.  To help you to attain to the unity of the faith and knowledge of Jesus.

And what is equally important is the next verse:

So we are no longer to be children, tossed back and forth by waves and carried about by every wind of teaching by the trickery of people who craftily carry out their deceitful schemes.
Eph 4:14 (NET)

There are many, many doctrinal teachings out there.  Some are more mainstream and some are less.  Some are right out on the fringe.  And, of course, there are cultish teachings as well.

Bottom line is that you — yes, you! — must pick up your bible and read commentary and books.  You must not just take my word or an author’s word for doctrine and theology.  Rather, the Holy Spirit has promised that He will guide you to the Truth if you purposefully and prayerfully listen to Him.  Test everything.

In that vein we will take a look at concepts in Christianity and we will teach with much reference to the bible.  This blog is to help you study, to help you learn and to help you grow in Christ.  Hopefully we can help you to avoid being tossed to and fro; and we will help you to recognize the crafty and their schemes so that you can avoid them.

Keep your eyes on Jesus.

God bless.
